Eye Wash Stations

Eyewash Stations and Eye Rinse Solution

You see the hazards in your work environment. Particles fly through the air, liquids splash, or workers handle and dispense chemicals. You do your job in instructing them in safety procedures: Among them, exposures warrant a visit to an eyewash station for on-the-spot decontamination before receiving emergency care.

Work with Magid® to make sure your plumbed and portable eyewash stations are secure and fully stocked. Browse our selection for stations, parts, and eye wash solution.

Why Eyewash Stations Are Essential

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has estimated that roughly 2,000 U.S. workers each year experience an on-the-job eye injury requiring medical attention. In these scenarios, minutes and seconds matter, particularly regarding exposure to hazardous chemicals. An eye wash station is a first-level strategy for reducing eye and skin damage. Without them placed throughout your workplace, your employees risk chemical burns, blindness, or greater damage from a foreign object embedded in the eye.

To facilitate this process, ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 requires eyewash stations and decontamination showers be placed within 10 seconds of your work area or a potential hazard. OSHA further specifies placement of eyewash stations near potentially corrosive materials.

As you ensure your facility complies with these recommendations, make sure you have a fixed or portable station near laboratories or areas with dust, flying objects, or sprayed particles, or where hazardous chemicals are stored or dispensed. Any eyewash station you set up needs to be accessible and easily identified by your workforce.

Types of Eyewash Stations

Factoring in these recommendations, Magid® helps you implement the following solutions:

  • Plumbed eyewash stations: These fixed eyewash stations are attached to the wall to deliver lukewarm water at a pace of 0.4 gallons per minute and include nozzles protected from potential clogs and contaminants
  • Portable eyewash stations: Also called self-contained stations, these solutions accommodate mobile environments and deliver a stream at the same temperature and volume as a plumbed station

Continue protecting your workers’ vision with eyewash stations appropriate to their environment. Shop at Magid® to find portable eyewash stations, parts for plumbed fixtures, and eyewash bottles for dispensing the solution or cleaning a self-contained device.
